Iranian film ‘Malaria’ wins three main awards from a film festival in the US city of San Francisco.

Iranian director Parviz Shahbazi’s ‘Malaria’ has won three main awards at Iranian Film Festival (IFF) in the US city of San Francisco.

The movie, produced by Masoud Redai, received awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay from the 10th edition of the Iranian Film Festival (IFF) in San Francisco this week.

‘Malaria’ tells the story of a young woman who chooses to spend time with a band of street musicians.The social drama stars Saghar Qana’at and Saed Soheili

The Iranian Film Festival is held annually in the coastal Californian city of San Francisco.

IFF, the first independent Iranian film festival outside of Iran, showcases independent feature and short films made by or about Iranians from around the world.

In 2016, 'Malaria' went on screen in the Horizons section of the 73rd Venice International Film Festival in Italy.
